Home > Vision Correction & Lasik > Corneal Refraction Therapy (CRT) Correct Your Vision While You Sleep Marianas Eye Institute is pleased to offer Corneal Refractive Therapy or "CRT", an exciting non-surgical alternative to LASIK.
How CRT Works. For many years now, LASIK, the popular surgical method of correcting nearsightedness has been available in most metropolitan areas. CRT, the new method, does not require surgery. CRT involves the use of a therapeutic contact lenses that are worn during the sleeping hours. The lenses gently reshape the corneas. In the morning, you take the lenses out and are able to see well throughout the day. The lenses are worn each night and removed each morning. Over 94% of patients achieve vision of 20/30 or better within two weeks of initiating therapy. Who is eligible for CRT? The procedure is available for those who have up to -6.00 of myopia and up to 1.75 of astigmatism. It is ideal for anyone who doesn't want to or cannot wear glasses or daytime contact lenses. We have treated people involved in sports, scuba divers and swimmers, those working in dry or dusty environments where contact lenses can be irritating, those who simply want to see clearly without their glasses or contacts or those who do not want to undergo the risk or the expense of a surgical procedure. Is CRT Safe? Unlike LASIK, CRT is reversible and, in Food and Drug Administration (FDA) trials, there were no adverse effects reported from Paragon CRT. The risks associated with CRT lenses are no greater than regular contact lens wear. Paragon CRT lenses have been specifically approved by the FDA for wear during sleep. CRT Even in Teens. Another great benefit of CRT is that the FDA did not place any age restrictions on Paragon CRT. Children as young as 12 years old have been successfully treated. And the procedure is reversible. Teenagers and young adults are among the most active and style conscious individuals. CRT is popular among them because it gives freedom from the hassles of glasses and daytime contacts. Free Assessment. For individuals who want to know if they are good candidates, we provide an initial assessment at no charge. You just need to come in with your glasses. We'll check the vision and performed advanced corneal topography, which will give us information that allows us to determine if you meet the eligibility criteria for CRT. Price & More Information. Dr. Mark Robertson leads the CRT program at Marianas Eye Institute, and can answer any questions you might have. The cost for the procedure is $650 per eye, and includes the therapeutic lenses, the fitting process, and all visits related to the fitting for a six month period.
